Hurun announced its 2008 list of Social Responsibility Top 50 companies on April 9 for the fourth consecutive years with COFCO’s name on it.
Hurun evaluates a company’s social responsibility performance from four aspects: social leadership and transparency, number of employees and tax revenue, staff benefits and environmental protection, and charity donation. Each accounts for 25%.
Among the 50 companies, 21 are state-owned-enterprises, 17 are private companies and 12 foreign companies. In other words, 76% of the names are Chinese. Total charity donation of the 50 companies is 5.9 billion RMB; 80% comes from Chinese companies (4.7 billion RMB) and 20% from foreign ones.
