COFCO and Beijing Changping District Government signed the framework strategic cooperation agreement on July 30, 2010. The two parties will join hands in construction of the R&D and innovation base, agri and food processing and property development and management.
Mr. Patrick Yu, President of COFCO, and Mr. Hou Junshu, General Secretary of the District Party Committee of Changping, are the leaders of their own team attending the signing ceremony. Mr. Wan Zaotian, Party Committee Member of COFCO, and Mr. Jin Shudong, District Governor of Changping, signed the agreement on behalf of their own side.
As Patrick said, the core competitiveness of an international fully-integrated agri and food company were capacities in food R&D and international talent development. COFCO would recruit more talented professionals worldwide for the R&D and innovation base to develop cutting-edge agri and food processing technologies. The base would also stay in wide touch with consumers for survey and experience. All this is meant to develop nutritious and healthy food based on fundamental research in life, nutrition, health and digestion.
Mr. Hou expressed his confidence in the promise of strategic cooperation with COFCO. He believed the development of Changping District would be injected another shot of vigor. It would play a role in improving the independent innovation capacity of the District. He made commitment in well supporting COFCO in the base construction.
Mr. Hao Xiaoming, team leader in the base development, and Ms. Niu Yanxia, Deputy Director of the Corporate Office, also attended the ceremony.
