Witnessed by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture of China and their Danish counterparts in Denmark on September 5, 2012, Mengniu Dairy and Arla Foods signed the agreement to build Sino-Danish Dairy Product Technology Cooperation Center. The project is expected to introduce the expertise and experience of the supply chain from farmland to customer practiced by the Danish dairy industry to China so that the quality of dairy products of China can be up to EU standards. The total investment is RMB 220 million.
 
Following this agreement, the Center will be set up in Beijing. The two parties will expand their cooperation from resource management to production management, R&D and customers.
 
Particularly, about resource management, Mengniu Dairy will build modern ranches, introducing the Danish quality and food safety management and monitoring system, including the Garden of Allah quality system. Cooperation projects include risk control, milk collection and testing, milk storage and quality control, animal health and disease control, etc.
Arla Foods was established in 1863. Its headquarters are located in Copenhagen. It is one of the largest and most time-honored dairy companies of Europe and the largest organic dairy product supplier of the world. It became the second largest shareholder of Mengniu Dairy in June 2012, holding 5.9% shares, valuing RMB 1.8 billion.
