COFCO Sponsored IGTC Beijing Forum Release Time : 2015-09-09

On August 11-12, 2015, International Grain Trade Coalition (IGTC) Beijing Forum was held at W Beijing Hotel Chang’an. Co-sponsored by COFCO Group and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce, the forum was held for the first time in China by IGTC.

Mr. Gu Lifeng, Group industry senior general manager, deputy general manager of COFCO Agri-Trading & Logistics Co. Ltd. and general manager of Oils Department, attended the forum and cocktail reception and addressed the forum participants. He pointed out that as a provider of diversified agricultural and food products and services, COFCO Group will continue to enhance its capability of controlling global resources and market, actively push forward the growth of global grain trade, and promote international grain security upon completion of acquisitions of Nidera and Noble Agri.

The forum invited leaders from State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) to brief about Administrative Measures for Inspection and Quarantine for the Entry and Exit Grain (Opinion Soliciting Draft) recently promulgated by AQSIQ and organized participants to conduct discussions and in-depth exchanges with experts from Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine regarding some specific issues.

The International Grain Trade Coalition (IGTC) is an unincorporated coalition of national and international non-profit trade associations and councils involving more than 8000 members whose purpose is to provide advice to governments from a global perspective on the commercial requirements and economics of the world’s food, feed and processing industries.

China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA) was established in 1988. The membership of CFNA has exceeded 6,600 companies, including the largest and most representative companies and a large number of small and medium sized enterprises in this industry. The Chamber of Commerce has set up 43 chambers of commodities, all of which have a nation-wide membership.

President of IGTC Gary Martin, Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce Bian Zhenhu, IGTC and major global grain trade organizations, Agriculture Counselors from U.S., Canadian, Australian, Brazilian, Argentine embassies in China, as well as nearly 100 representatives from major Chinese and foreign grain traders attended the forum.
